Yeah, the problem with OpenTTD is persistence. If somebode creates a Super Awesome Rail Network(tm) it doesn't last forever.
but cant you just kinda make the world REALLYYYY big and keep it running forever?
also, i got into it, but the extent of my rail network skillz is keeping the trains off the same track so they dont screw up

use the sponge brick.. its the yellow one that makes all the water nearby dissapear. Water will expand to fill all available space that is below and around it - it doesnt care about size.

i once had random blocks missing from my house..
but then i tore it down anyway.
